The
Positive Points System represents a 1,000-point, self-assessment tool for evaluating the extent of sustainable vineyard practices
used on-farm. The PPS was conceived and developed through a collaborative partnership of growers, wineries, cooperative
extension, educators, consultants, and environmental interests. The end result describes a sustainable vineyard which protect both natural and human resources. CCVT designed the protocol
to be a tool to educate and guide growers towards more sustainable approaches and reduced risk practices. While an overall high score indicates more eco-friendly management, improvement in
scores from one year to the next indicates progress towards sustainable farm management. Over the last five years, dozens of blocks have been evaluated using the PPS, representing more
than 15,000 acres. |
