The Positive Points System was a grower-driven, grass roots effort that succeeded in influencing winegrowing practices and thereby affecting the local ag culture. There is no doubt that Central Coast winegrape growers farm differently today than they did eight years ago, and that the Central Coast Vineyard Team’s Positive Points System was instrumental in this systemic change.

Positive Points System Participation Summary

PPS participation continues to grow. Since 1996, CCVT has collected 750 evaluations. Many of these evaluations were completed on the same block over time, indicating changes of management practices at a site. Facilitating Positive Point System Workshops continues to be an  effective method for attracting new growers to the program and encouraging existing growers to complete additional evaluations.
