The New Sustainable Winegrowing Podcast

Technical Education You Want, When You Want It

March 9, 2017 (Atascadero, CA) - Podcasts on sustainable winegrowing are the latest educational tool brought to you by Vineyard Team to provide the latest in science and research for the wine industry.

Since 1994, Vineyard Team has provided several avenues for members of the industry to gain peer-to-peer information about the stewardship of our natural resources. Those opportunities have included workshops, field demonstrations, and events such as the annual Sustainable Ag Expo.

The new podcasts – lasting only 10-30 minutes – are recordings of select presentations made during recent events and interviews with farmers and industry experts. Current episodes range from a grower panel discussion of fungicide resistance, to a historical look at grapevine virus DNA, to an approach to combat mildew explained using the fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

“We realized that not everyone who wished to could attend our field events or Sustainable Ag Expo, so podcasts seemed an easy way to make the information available,” said Beth Vukmanic Lopez, SIP Certified Manager for Vineyard Team. “The format lets farmers listen while they’re on the go, or at a time of day that’s most convenient for them.”

Vukmanic Lopez added that, “The episodes also allow our event attendees to revisit discussions and easily share the content with their colleagues.”

Interested wine industry professionals can listen to Vineyard Team podcasts via the website, vineyardteam.org/podcasts. In addition, listeners can subscribe on iTunesStitcher, Google Play, and TuneIn. Vineyard Team membership is not required to subscribe to the podcasts, or for the twice monthly newsletter.

About Vineyard Team

The Vineyard Team is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote sustainable vineyard practices such as water conservation, integrated pest management, habitat diversity, and protection of water quality and human resources. Established in the mid-1990s when the term “sustainable” was far less mainstream than it is today, Vineyard Team has enjoyed an impressive track record, earning awards from a broad variety of entities including the Environmental Protection Agency and California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
